Funds raised through this event will help provide business scholarships to Hispanic entrepreneurs. These scholarships are used for business plan development, marketing plan creation or accounting services. In past years HBIF has provided over $20,000 in scholarships in the Tampa Bay area.

HBIF provides technical assistance to budding Hispanic entrepreneurs and Hispanic-owned businesses through a one-on-one approach, and a variety of other business development programs. In working together with the entrepreneur and other business professionals, individual analysis and the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges are identified.

How Does HBIF Impact the
Community?
Today, small
businesses provide 75% of all the net new jobs added to the economy, and employ
53% of the private workforce. Small firms also account for 51% of
private sector output and provide 67% of workkers with their first job and
initial on the job training.
From 1987 to to 1997 U.S. small businesses grew by more than 36%. During this
period, Hispanic Businesses grew by 72% on a national level, with gross
receipts increasing by 295%.
HBIF contributes to this major economic force by developing, nurturing and
supporting the rapidly growing number of Hispanic small businesses. These
Hispanic firms play a critical role in the continuing economic strength of the
Tampa Bay region and Central Florida.
